While I was scared by some kind of G I was moving down a corridor and managed to hit it. In previous versions, I would get the message "You are too terrified to attack" or something similar, even with invisible creatures.

This was changed in r1380. Could you see the G when you attacked it? I think I know what the problem is, but that will tell me for sure.
