    Request: Adjust to weapon descriptions

    Hi,

Elemental rings alter the average damage of many weapons. If the weapon has elemental brand, we can see its brand-related damage. It would be useful if we could see the amount of damage added by these rings too.

I think the most simple would be adding a paragraph to the weapon description, but it could be shown in the description of the ring itself. Something like:

"The ring of acid might add an average damage of XX against acid-vulnerable creatures".

This is just an initial idea. Opinions?

The elemental rings have the exact same effect as if the weapon had the brand. So the damage in the weapon description should just be listed as if the weapon had a brand with maybe a note saying that the brand is coming from the ring and not the weapon. I assume something like this is already done, but I don't know since I haven't played any of the nightlies.

From what I've seen of char dumps, the weapon is treated as if it has the brand from the ring in it's description.
I miss autoscum... but not that much.

I tried it with 3.1.0, and the weapon description is the same, with or without elemental rings. Same description and same values. I tested with a "weapon of fury", which has no elemental brands.

In the nightly versions you get a line in the combat info paragraph (when you examine the weapon with the "I" comand) that says:
"This weapon benefits from one or more ring brands"
In my case with an acid ring there is also listed how much damage this weapon will do against creatures without acid resistance.

Good to know it's already implemented in the nightlies. Does exist any "release notes" or any similar source, to let us know the differences between "official" 3.1.0 (I quoted because the official release still carries a "beta" suffix) and any recent nightly release? Does Trac have any option to consolidate this info from the branch commits?

This would avoid other "naive" questions such as this one.

http://trac.rephial.org/browser/trunk/changes.txt is a consolidated list, but it's manually updated and is now about 3 months behind. The rest of the info is available on http://trac.rephial.org/timeline.
