    Feasibility of no magic/sword/bow

Hey all! How hard do you think it would be to win with a character that doesn't use magic, doesn't fight with a sword, and doesn't shoot with a bow? In other words, only wands/staves/rods/activations/pots/scrolls.

I think it's doable. The higher-up firepower would come from Wands of Annihilation, dragon wands, Rods of Drain Life, Staves of Power/Holiness, and random activations from artifacts. It may take a long time to build up a big enough weapon stockpile to take on the higher up uniques though.

A friend of mine tried to do a human nature + chaos monk in zangband, and it was quite similar. He nearly drove himself mad doing it. Could only kill stuff with those things endgame. At one point, he found himself collecting dragon scale mails for the activation to kill stuff, and then waiting in town, recharging each one individually. In other words, ya need the borg.

I think it's less viable than doing damage only with shovels.
One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to bind them.
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness interrupt the movie.

There are some really powerful artifact diggers ... especially if you play with randarts.

I think the problem for the OP is that Morgoth simply has too many hp. You could carry enough devices to kill him. That said, a mage could probably do it, with enough Restore Mana.

Well, I was just thinking a pile of drain life rods (they do work on Morgoth right???). The recharge is 23, so having 23 rods means you could fire continuously - that's only like 30 lbs. Finding them would be another matter. If my numbers are right, assuming +40 speed, it would take 143 consecutive shots to kill Morgoth. Obviously more if you don't hit him non-stop. The main problem, as usual, will be the quantity of monsters he could (will) summon in this time...hmm...

Well, I'll figure it out if I get there. I've got a clev 13 High-Elf Rouge who is slowly and painfully descending.

What do you mean by "with enough Restore Mana"?

I believe he was thinking of violating the "no magic" clause.

Heh. I was indeed. I'm not sure if Drain Life works on Morgoth ...

Heh, ok, I thought for a second there you meant restore mana recharged rods or something =P

I'm pretty sure drain life works of Morgoth, he's not undead or a demon. I seem to recall using it on him just to see if it worked. I know that Wands of Annihilation work; at least they did some time ago.
