Problem with saving and score files

Running Angband on Linux, for some reason, even after all the permissions have been toyed with, the game is still unable to generate save files or a score file, which means I have no way of stopping a game for a break, or having a record of my progress. Can anyone think of anything else I might need to toy with to get the program to be able to write these files?

This still sounds like a permissions problem.

How and where (into $HOME or system wide) did you install the game?

Does Angband create and write anything into $HOME/.angband/?

The first time I had this problem was on a Debian install and a quick apt-get remove angband, apt-get install angband fixed the problem.

The second time I had this problem my /usr partition was full.

      It also might be permissions.

Eureka! After a few days of not bothering to fiddle with it, I was struck by a fit of brilliance probably brought on by all the cough syrup I've been drinking in light of my recent flu bug. It seems permissions on the Angband lib directory never got changed, so a quick chmod 777 fixed it up, and I can save and see all my dead peoples now, hooray.
