New to Angband and addicted

Is Gondricam better than my whip of slay troll? It only has 1 attack a round so I dont think so but this cutlas is pretty godly heh

Well, it covers the four base resistances, which might be useful, if you don't have other sources. It gives you +3 DEX and +3 stealth. Depending on your stats, an additional ring of strength or dexterity might grant your more blows with it.

Gah there goes that character made it to level 22 though found a couple artifacts and what not all and all I am pleased with my progression

I tried that scheme from the google group (only with a human warrior rather than half-orc, because I wasn't in a half-orcish mood). I'm currently at level 15, 500', after maybe 10 minutes of playing... it's really fun! I should have always played like this. Charge!

One note, though - rather than encountering someone nice and easy like Bullroarer, my first two uniques were Mughash the Kobold Lord and Lagduf the Snaga, the first with a bodyguard of large kobolds and the second with a mixed group of hill orcs, cave orcs, and snaga. I don't know how I survived. I'm currently dashing about with a +8/+8 Trident of Slay Giant with another (Excellent) trident awaiting identification in my pack.

Uniques with escorts or summon abilities are always more dangerous than they seem to be.
I don't know how often I managed to kill some of the early bosses just to be finished by one of his swarming companions.

I used to think these were weak until I met them in Ironman. Heh.

I think the best way of getting money in the early game is to collect wands when they start appearing, then ID'ing them and selling them. I would also be very careful when selling unidentified armor, especially footwear since you never know when you're going to find these Sandals of Speed (+4) in dungeon level two and then sell them for three gold pieces.

That applies also for unidentified potions of experience or robes of resistance on level one. ^^
