Angband (both 3.0.9b and 3.1 beta) not running in windows xp

Hi all.

I've tried running both 3.0.9b and the new beta in windows xp. I double-click on the angband executable and no windows show up. No nothing. I know the game is running because it's showing up in XP's process manager.

I'm thinking my computer might be missing a critical file or two for the game to run. I've run the game before (long time ago) and it ran fine then. So I am scratching my head wondering what is wrong and what is keeping angband from displaying its usual set of windows.

It's a known bug on XP that Angband hangs occasionally on startup--try running it with all console (cmd/shell) windows closed. If that doesn't work, try rebooting.

I think this problem was fixed after the release of 3.1.0. Might try one of the nightly builds.

This happens occasionally to me with both Vanilla and variants on my XP/Vista machines. Rebooting always fixes it.
