Hi there - I'm new and have an Angband question!

Hi guys,

A little bit about my history with the game... it's a bit hazy so bare with me

I started out with Rogue and Hack... and moved on to Moria. Eventually to Angband and then Zangband. Zangband was probably my favorite incarnation (now, I hope I don't have to duck, being that this is an ANGband forum.. haha).

I've probably logged over five hundred hours in this game and I've STILL I've never gotten below level fifty in the dungeon. But then again, it's probably part of the massochistic appeal; the sheer brutality of the lower levels.

My question for you all is where can I find the complete package of one of the newer versions that you find to be "the best currently out." Everywhere that I have tried to download a version today I've been having problems with. I would like to get one with some minor graphics. The one from this site "can not read the .bmp graphics" from any of the different versions (adams tiles etc etc)...

Is there a newer version of Zangband out? I really like the Chaos mutations and even the early quests were pretty nifty.

Z+Angband is the unofficial continuation of Zangband.

Also there are a lot of games based on Zangband (to a greater or lesser extent). If you want a really inclusive source for roguelike games and *band variants I suggest RogueBasin. Particularly the page of Recently Updated Roguelikes (although I am a bit biased about that
