(Sorry if am duplicating a thread that has already started)
First off, I do want to merge or remove one of these prayers at least for the sake of simplicity - as it stands right now they just clutter the beginner prayerbook.
I think it is a valid concern that priests are not differentiated much from mages in Vanilla, and that merging dTraps & dStairs/Doors is bringing priests (at least at low levels) closer to mages.
My suggestion is to replace these two prayers with a more priestly-flavored 'Detect Danger' or 'Sense Danger' spell. This spell would function as the current dTraps. dStairs/Doors wouldn't be given to priests/paladins, since they eventually get sense surroundings anyway.
As a twist, 'Sense Danger' could also reveal cursed objects on the floor, or out-of-depth monsters. I like the second option in terms of flavor, but it might be too powerful for the first prayerbook; another option could be to move this prayer to the second book and have no detection at all in the first one.
I think the most conservative option would be to drop dStairs from the first book, and rename dTraps to 'detect/sense danger'... thoughts?
