    lcc and bcc with Angband

    I see both makefile.bcc and makefile.lcc were deleted from the Angband distribution in 2007 ("nuke" was the word used). Was that because it was no longer possible to compile Angband with lcc or bcc or was it just that those files were out of date / broken?

    In any case it means that one of the Compile Angband instructions at Thangorodrim cannot be followed.

    Currently turning (Angband) Japanese.

    I dropped the makefiles because they used bizarre syntax and couldn't support including the list of common files-to-be-compiled in Makefile.inc. Also, LCC and BCC are rubbish compilers.

      hmm, so what is the recommended way for compiling (for free) on Windows that does not involve a huge download of a Java-based Integrated Development Environment (ie, Eclipse)?

      I would prefer to never have that installed on my Windows partition.

        @chem:

        mingw is the "minimal" gnu C install. lcc also should work, although I'm not sure how up-to-date lcc is these days. And Visual Studio "Express" is free. It's also a huge download, but it's not in java.

          MinGW. http://rephial.org/wiki/Compiling#s2_3 tells you what to do.
