    User-interface requests

First off, I just want to give kudos to Andrew for his work maintaining Angband. The game has improved a lot over the last few years.

    Here are my user-interface requests:

    (1) The "newbie command menu" that shows up when you press return always displays the commands with the standard keyset. I think Angband should be aware what keyset is active, and show the menus with the roguelike keyset when appropriate.

I don't actually use these menus now. However I recently switched to the roguelike keyset to use on a laptop. It would have been really useful to be able to press return to find out how to do things while I was learning, rather than have to go search through the help files. (Plus, it was a little confusing pressing return and getting presented with suggestions for the wrong keys!)

    (2) It would be nice if the macro preferences were a little more user-friendly. I don't have strong feelings for how it should be; my only suggestion is that it would be great if the user was able to see what the current macros (and trigger keys) were. Sometimes I'll make a mistake creating a macro, and such a list would be very useful to tell if I just assigned something to a key I didn't intend.

You can already do this - query a macro key.

true but it's not user friendly, or intuitive.

If we get to have ponies, I want the macro interface to be a list of actions, instead of keypresses, and the interface to be some pseudoscripting display that autocompletes what I'm typing etc.

Yeah, this is probably more work than the game, but whatever.
