    Help needed with PuTTY and NumPad

    Hi folks,

    I'm trying to play 3.1.0 (well, trunk actually but whatever) in console mode on a Linux box via PuTTY in Windows.

    I cannot get the NumPad keys to work properly, for love nor money. The default should work fine, but doesn't. Instead I get:

    9->w
    8->? (suspect x)
    7->? (suspect y)
    6->t
    5->u
    4->v
    3->q
    2->r
    1->? (suspect s)

    Does anyone else use PuTTY and know how I should change this?

    Thanks,

    There is a "Keyboard" section off to the left of the putty configuration screen. I'd try the options there, and see if any of them work.
    a chunk of Bronze {These look tastier than they are. !E}
    3 blank Parchments (Vellum) {No french novels please.}

      I did, and they don't. They all give interesting variations, but none of them actually generate numbers.

      The default settings generate numbers for other apps, so I'm wondering if this is Angband-specific.

        Try running the SVN version; it's had changes to keypress handling in the curses port so you may find it works better. Either that, or grab http://dev.rephial.org/svn/trunk/src/main-gcu.c and write it over your own.
        takkaria whispers something about options. -more-

          I confirmed it with the latest trunk today (filed as http://dev.rephial.org/trac/ticket/796). It's definitely angband, because the numbers 1-9 come up fine in the console.

          At the moment I'm forced to use the roguelike keyset. Ugh. Flame on!
