It means very little, truth be told. It could mean there's a powerful item, or monster, or pit, or that there are more items than usual on that level, or a variety of these things, or none of them. Most likely, you won't be able to tell the difference from any other level.

Oh the deception! Turns out, it was a Potion of Strength, which I sold for like 10 gold to ID. Noeee!!! A !Strength at 200'.... the horror...

Many of the level feelings contain the word "lucky". Some of these feelings are just slightly better than "boring." It took me a while to figure this out. I tend to ignore "lucky" feelings and instead focus on feelings that are "excellent" or "superb", but that's just me.

i second the request - i specifically can't figure the difference between the ones that mean you haven't walked enough on the previous level to get a feeling and the ones that indicate a normal level.

"Looks like any other level." is the one you get if you weren't on the previous level long enough.

That's why you just quaff the early potions instead of selling them...
