Okay... first off, do you think Gloves of Agility that give +3 Dexterity is a pretty good find on dl like 3?

Second of all...how much better is a pick, than a shovel?

Third... has anyone ever beaten Morgoth to death using said shovel? Because I'm pretty sure that would be the most impressive win ever. Ever.

Fourth... I'd really like a digging slot to be implemented into 3.1.1... I love that, in variants, and I hate constantly inscribing my primary attacking item and my shovel with the old @0@1, @0@2 shizzles. =] Is there anyway the great Takkaria can make this happen? ^_^

I'm not particularly interested in encouraging digging, so the answer's no, I'm afraid. A pick is a fair bit better than a shovel, though.

Yes.

Somewhat. It digs faster but weighs more. I prefer shovels until I get STM.

Doubt it. I would think M would heal too quickly for the damage output. Maybe in variants where he has limited mana.

I agree, but it's not that big a priority. In ToME where it gets a separate slot, you frequently need a shovel to simply get around. In Angband you only really need one to get into vaults if you don't have STM. If M Sidwell isn't implementing a quiver system any time soon, which should be a much much higher priority, I wouldn't hold my breath for a tool slot.

If you couldn't dig without a shovel (as you can't in ToME) you'd need a shovel in V too.

HallucinationMushroom came very close...died on the M battle but used nothing but an plain shovel the whole game.

God, I wish I was that good... good enough to almost win Angband with a shovel... I want it so bad...
