Simple question

Perhaps I am just blind, but I cannot find an answer to this:

I want to edit the preferences in vanilla 3.09b Angband, specifically the 'center_player' value or its equivalent in this version.

Which file should I edit, and what value should I use (are they using hex values in the files? strange alphanumerics in those areas from what I can tell) to make the screen always center on my player character?

Any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to access the options in-game by pressing '=', at least that's what works in all variants I have played so far. The prefs are also stored in /lib/user/*.prf
