APW angband borg halts?

So I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum, but I'm running APW angband in 8.10 ubuntu on a virtualbox. it has recently begun to halt and switch to user mode for no reason. While this is all good I am currently doing a project and need the borg to continue playing. I've tried ctrl-z and 'z' but that does not reactivate the borg for me. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a fix?

Incidentally, I have tried to make clean, ./configure and make and make install and nothing works. Please help!

post the last 15-20 lines of the game log file and/or send me the savefile at the point the borg came unhooked.

Make sure you have the most recent borg incarnation as well.
