Hello all, I recently started playing Angband again and found 4.2.4 to be phenomenal. Except for the Maia, great wyrms of annihilation, furies, huorns, trees, and tunneling vortices - ha! I definitely ended up carrying around rods of probing (small suggestion - perhaps make use of those rods take up a fractional turn since a player is already penalized by giving up an inventory slot to carry the rod) to figure out how not to die.
After a few early deaths refreshing on the basics and a YASD getting KO'd (no pStun) on DL72 to a grand master mystic, I defeated Morgoth with a HE warrior (http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=25591).
There were a few uniques that I didn't defeat and ended up diving down even further to try to get a few more artifacts to round out the build. From what I remember from earlier versions, it was possible to find artifacts on lower dungeon levels, but it seems to have dried up. Maybe just bad luck on may part, and I'm sure I'll restart with the new blackguard class soon. Anyway, are there any changes to artifact generation chances at deeper levels that would point to farming earlier or later floors for the ultra-rare artifacts?
