Shouldn't Necromancers be able to see in the dark?

I don't necessarily they should see in all darkness, just the dark spots that they create. Other characters, with a light source or spell or device, illuminate an area and can see objects and creatures. Necromancers, with their spell or a Lantern of Shadows or device, create a dark area but still have objects hidden. So the dark area, supposedly, just affects their casting.
