    Item configurator?

Has anyone made a spreadsheet or application that totals up bonuses, etc., for sets of equipped items? I have just stumbled upon a shed load of artifact weapons and armor, and it would be great if I could see the total effects of all of the different pieces to figure out what the best combination would be.
    Any thoughts?

    Cheers!

I wrote a script for that. First, it defines all attributes with certain values. Then it reads a dump, parses the attributes of all your items, inventory home and everything. Then it bruteforces all the possible combinations and suggests swaps to get you to the optimal (highest scoring) set of items to wear. But it's quite hard to come up with universal scoring that satisfies everyone. I tend to overvalue speed and telepathy, for example...

I was thinking the same thing not very long ago. A spreadsheet or similar program that would read a character dump or save files and allow the user to drag and drop or otherwise easily swap items in and out of equiptment slots while giving 'on the fly' results.
I wouldn't think the AI (equiptment selection) would be neccessary, except to possibly highlight an overwhelmingly superior or inferior item.

Buzzkill, that's pretty much what I was thinking. I would either read all the items that a character has in inventory, or just put in all possible inventory items, which of course would be more work as you'd have to set the +to hit and +damage modifiers by hand. I think and excel or OOo spreadsheet ought to do the trick.
Pav - what dump do you read, just a character dump? I can't seem to see any inventory information in that...Forgive me, I'm a total angband newbie

Yes, just the chardump. It has all the abilities for the items written in the Character Equipment section...

I don't know enough about Excel or the inner workings of Angband (damage calculations) to put this together myself.

Pav, wouldn't you need more info than just a character dump? Don't many weapons (artifacts and ego) as well as other items have attributes that aren't noted in the dump?

Don't think so. I don't consider damage output in my script, BTW, it's purely the "get resistances covered" kind of tool.
