    Giant race?

Gains inventory space with character levels (in similar vein to how Rangers gain extra shots).
    • Hit/Shoot/Throw: +20/-18/+12
    • XP MOD: 120%
    • hit die 13
    • STR: +5
    • DEX: -1
    • CON: +4
    • WIS: -1
    • INT: -3
    • Disarm: -15/-15
    • Devices: -20
    • Save: -20
    • Stealth: -4
    • Infravision: 40ft
    • Digging: +20
    • Searching: -12

      Gains inventory space
      +2 Damage Reduction

I only made this suggestion because I think it would be just grand to have the ability to play a character that can hold more than the standard amount. Although it occurs to me we should have an Ent race before a Giant....

    Ent
    • Hit/Shoot/Throw: +5/-5/+0
    • XP MOD: 120%
    • hit die 18
    • STR: +5
    • DEX: 0
    • CON: +4
    • WIS: -1
    • INT: -1
    • Disarm: 0/0
    • Devices: -5
    • Save: 0
    • Stealth: -1
    • Infravision: 40ft
    • Digging: +60
    • Searching: +5

      Gains inventory space
      +2 Damage Reduction
      Hurt by fire
      240 max STR (18/120)
      280 max CON (18/160)
      -5 speed

Problems with this race: Might be broken if @ finds fire immunity. Deathwreaker anyone?

Giants are not really canonic to Tolkien. They only mentioned in Hobbit (kinda fictionally), so I doubt Nick will add them as a player's race.

In Tangaria we have Half-Giant race though. And even got Titan (which is kinda branch of pure 'giant') We have 50+ races which are kinda classic to fantasy genre, but not all of them canonic to Tolkien: https://tangaria.com/guide/races/

So this race is kinda variantish imho.

Playable Half-Giants and Half-Titans go at least as far back as Zangband. ToME has playable Ents. ^_^

The speed penalty for the Ent race seems slightly unfair. They're slow in decision making and action but relatively fast in movement once they've decided on a course of action. I also couldn't imagine an ent playing as any other character class than a warrior. An ent mage or Paladin just seems wrong to me. Also the idea of an ent wearing armour, no, I don't buy it. For this reason I'm out

Hey maan; trees have dreams too.

Seriously though the armour image threw me as well. Maybe if they had extra ring-slots in lieu of gloves/armour/boots/hat (all those twigs).

Also Ent Druid or Ranger? I could see that.

Now if you select a female Ent... any of the lore-masters know more about Ent-Wives than is in LOTR?

Well, if anyone has any creative ideas for implementing increased on-person inventory space into the game, I'd love to hear 'em.

                Definitely vests.

I guess the actual answers have already occurred in dayes of yore

How about choosing between a cloak and a backpack on the back slot. Backpacks give no AC and rarely have any other ability than +x slots.

Though personally I think that there are generally enough slots available.

Just noticed that in FrogComposband, Jellies get more inventory slots as they level up. (: ° )

I'm sure we're over thinking this, but an ent shouldn't use any weapon made of wood. A bow and arrow would be like bending a friend in half and then firing another friend's fingers. It wouldn't happen. Ents had some ranged ability in the siege of Isengard when they threw boulders... That might be fun.

Not that I'm complaining, but it's sort of silly (I'm sure it's been pointed out before) that a ring takes up just as much space as a set of Ribbed Plate Armor. Some things are tradition regardless of how "unrealistic" they are.

Just as unrealistic as only being able to wear two rings, I've got ten fingers.

Simultaneously wearing four speed rings, three rings of power, a +6 stat ring, and two rings of damage sounds balanced to me.
