    Nooooooo

Somehow I had two instances of Angband running without noticing. Saved my game, went away, came back, obliviously started playing on the other one. Noticed I was an earlier incarnation of myself, tried to kill it from the Task Manager to carry on from my normal save file. Apparently this doesn't kill processes any more, it just politely asked Angband to quit, which it did, saving the game.

I've lost several hours of play and about half a dozen vaults' worth of loot, including +10 speed boots and the Chaos Dragon Scale Mail of Elvenkind that was finally the key to putting my perfect gear combo together.

Ancalagon, Cantoras, the Tarrasque, Feagwaith, Vecna, Carcharoth, Huan, several ringwraiths and some unique Ainu - and others that I can't even remember - are also back from the dead.

    AAARGH. That is all.

    First - sorry

Second - next time save your advance character file to another location

    copy CHARNAME - CHARNAME.bak
(or highlight - copy, paste - change nam)

Then after closing out the rogue angband process - if it gets overwritten - you can move it back...
