Or a plain potion of healing since Waldern was at 1*. He just panicked and spammed teleportation macro... while having no scrolls of teleportation in the inventory.

In TomeNET, monsters can interfere when you're trying to shoot at them from melee range. You have a skill called Calmness to reduce the chance. It's not antimagic, just physical interference.

Bummer about dying to an anti-magic monster; that's a pretty impressive run for a solo character in a multiplayer game. You have to carry a lot of !Heal for those in the games that have them. And avoid them. Mostly avoid them.
