    T-Engine4 / ToME4 beta12b unleashed!

    As promised here comes T-Engine4 and ToME4 beta12b !

    Release highlights:

    * Added an option to the game menu "Video Options" that allow to
    disable antialiasing, framebuffers and shaders
    * Vital bugfixes

    OSX port is in the works stay tuned!

        Hmm. The interface is a lot faster with AA and all that turned off, but the Skills screen lags the mouse and the whole game. Using the scroll wheel there in particular seems to cause problems. Not sure what's going on, really.

          Well part of my problem was vsync being enabled. Disabling that made it render fast enough... However T-engine is using a steady 40% or so CPU power on the skills screen, and there are probably CPU spikes. I'm beginning to think this is not a graphics issue.

            Some time ago (2003?) I was revamping the OSX port.

            The hardest part was basic ASCII display, because OSX/Carbon fonts have some weird constructions.
            The second hardest part was graphics performance. I ended up having to render tiles in an on-demand cache, and bitmap the cached tiles into corresponding game locations.
            It made a huge difference.
            OSX is really good at anti-aliasing so it doesn't need caching for that, but shading &c sounds like cached canvases should help.

            Also, for transparency, the optimal choice is 3d (layers) rather than 2d rendering. (I didn't have to go that far, since I don't actually play with GFX enabled.)

              Old Man Willow missing

              I started a new character on the new version and after reaching the end of the Old Forest I could not find Old Man Willow. I tried leaving and coming back a few times but still no luck. What do I need to do?

                Still having trouble with the old man. I went ahead and finished the maze, the sand cave and Carn Dum. Now I cant get any new quests because of the unfinished one and I am stuck. Help please!

                  I optimized the dialogs for next beta it should be better.

                  As for the old man willow, he might have been killed by something else, though I am not sure what

                  In any cases you are not stuck, jsut go to tol falas taht'st he next step, the next quest does not depend on this one being finished
