Ahhh, thank you for the Christmas Present, Sil!

Nimas of House Belegost woke up with Glamdring under his tree. He carried it into Angband and all the way down and back out again. He was unable to slay big V with it but it took care of everything else in his path. I have no idea how people manage to kill Morgoth without a weapon of sharpness!

    Code:
      [Sil 1.3.0 Character Dump]

You are the only child of a Dwarven Craftsman. You are a credit to the
family. You have dark brown eyes, straight black hair, a two foot
     beard, and a ruddy complexion.

Given it was before he tool lore master, I assume it was to identify them as well as gain the xp. I do the same when I haven't got anything better to make.

Re Sharpies: A high damage vampiric (or better still Delmereth) can be easier sometimes just because you can conserve a lot of buffs on the way to the throne room.

        anyway, nice work.

Your base melee was really low for V. Usually I aim for around 20 melee/evasion, sometimes less evasion and more melee. Having Momentum and Strength, and maybe a ring of Strength instead of the evasion ring, would have gotten you up to 9 strength with a potion, which would mean hitting 2d11x2 in the throne room vs. 2d8. I find that it helps to have two-weapon fighting too. Dodging+Flanking is also useful once you've cleared out the opening crowd of enemies, because with !quickness it is like pseudo-haste. This way you can stack up a lot more damage to big V.

I'm surprised you didn't have song of the trees, to me it's almost a required ability for everyone.

Is that 20 final evasion or 20 points invested? I've become obsessed with evasion on my characters because I really don't like getting hit. It works extremely well with riposte, allowing you to kill even enemies you have a hard time hitting. I don't know what you mean by pseudo-haste. With !quickness it doesn't make you hit any faster than just standing and attacking, does it?

I found a brass lantern of brightness quite early and a helm of brilliance and a Feanorian lamp of brightness not long afterward. This turned out to be more than enough light to kill Shelob and a Gwathrauko hiding behind her. Besides that, I didn't have too many issues with darkness at all.

I mean 20 invested, so you can take Strength and Dexterity if you want to. By pseudo haste I mean that since you move at Fast with a potion of quickness, and attack by moving with flanking, this in effect allows you to attack faster than enemies by walking back and forth repeatedly, with the added bonus of 3 evasion.

Ooooh, I get ya. I like throwing sprinting in there and moving around the room in a circular path. This is not so feasible with big crowds of enemies, however!
