    Throwing damage bug (maybe?)

I don't throw stuff very often, so I've only just noticed something. This sorta looks like a bug to me, but possibly this is the intended behavior:

I threw a Great Spear of Doriath at a wolf. I got lucky and got a hit, but the spear only did 2d8 worth of damage, not the 2d13 I was expecting. A Great Spear does not have the THROWING attribute (in object.txt). That seems weird, but possibly what was intended (I think not, but maybe).

from the manual: "damage is just like melee, except that the number of damage sides is halved if the object was not designed for throwing." it appears that the strength bonus is applied after the halving. edit: actually it's before.

To me too it seems unexpected that a spear is not a throwing weapon, but Wikipedia confirms:

wait a minute. what was your str bron? unless it was 0 a great spear would do more than xd13 in normal melee yeah? but then you wouldn't get a str bonus after the halving.

The whole post was badly worded (what I get for posting after midnight I suppose). The whole point (only point) is that a Great Spear is not a throwing weapon, which seems odd to me, and I wondered if that was deliberate. The whole damage thing is just misleading: the character was 3 str, so d13 + 3 = d16, divided by 2 is d8, just as happened in the game. The only excuse I have for even mentioning the damage at all is that this was the thing that stuck out at me in the combat window, which is what led me to find out that it is not a throwing weapon.

Working as intended, but thanks for checking.
