    bad ideas?

how about a special level that breaks the rules of sil and plays like a roguelike version of pacman where you have to pickup all the food on the floor before getting attacked by the ghosts.
    He did the mash.
    He did the morgoth mash.
    The morgoth mash.
    It was an angband smash.

What about a set of special Sokoban levels where you move boulders to fill pits? Oh, wait...

That's dumb. What about a maze that you're not allowed to use autoexplore in, maprots constantly and changes around you on occasion? I think this got used in a popular roguelike in the 90s.

i have an idea too, the whole level is a huge room full of constantly moving animated trees who are mostly neutral but some of them are hostile, they spawn rapidly, faster than you can kill them, have decent hp and rather weak attack and they occupy like 3/4 of the room so to move to the stairs you should patiently wait (being hit by hostile ones) till the path is clear. if you use fire the whole room became permanently hostile

              Nope.

Allow Orc Champions to sing maybe, bolstering nearby Orcs morale and combat prowess?

autoexplore is plenty for the Bad Ideas thread

Ugghh philistine... How is that bad? It's like free xp, & some of those hostile trees drop useful stuff like food rations. We all need food right? & while you wait patiently, you can randomly kill them or cast spells to train skills. or eat herbs to increase stats. Is great. Fully support this idea.

Easter egg potential! Breaking the tension by using a Trumpet of Warning on Morgoth forces him to face you in single combat (with everything else staying neutral and keeping its distance).

Then Morgoth sent forth a terrible cry, that echoed in the mountains. Therefore that region was called Lammoth; for the echoes of his voice dwelt there ever after, so that any who cried aloud in that land awoke them, and all the waste between the hills and the sea was filled with a clamour as of voices in anguish. The cry of Morgoth in that hour was the greatest and most dreadful that was ever heard in the northern world; the mountains shook, and the earth trembled, and rocks were riven asunder. Deep in forgotten places that cry was heard. Far beneath the rained halls of Angband, in vaults to which the Valar in the haste of their assault had not descended, Balrogs lurked still, awaiting ever the return of their Lord; and now swiftly they arose, and passing over Hithlum they came to Lammoth as a tempest of fire.
