I'm wondering if staves of earthquakes could be a fun way to clear out the throne room, assuming you have enough defense to get most of the enemies bundled up around you. Read "fun" here in a Dwarf Fortress sort of way, meaning horribly dangerous and likely to get you killed but worth doing to be awesome.
From what I could find in the code, the Angband spell earthquake had a max radius of 10, with 10d8 damage at one square out, decreasing by a die every square to max. But I haven't been able to see if Sil uses that for the earthquake stave, or something else, or if Will affects the damage/radius, or just success chance.
Any ideas? It seems like it would be hilarious to pull all of Morgoth's servants around you and then drop the ceiling down while he watches.
