    Why no free polearm attack?

    ..C
    @ @
    ..x

x is me. The easterling warrior on the left has flanked me. The easterling warrior on the right swapped squares with the sleeping white wolf. Both easterling warriors are aware of me, I have polearms mastery, a great spear & passed my turn. My understanding is I should of had a free attack on the easterling on the right.

Arrgh... , 2nd bonus question. Why does this damn forum remove spaces from the diagram. I had to replace spaces with dots to position the C & x.

Putting the stuff at the top in code tags will monospace it. Code tags can be done with [ code] and [ /code] once you remove the spaces. I don't know why you didn't get a free attack. If he moved toward you after you rested a turn you should have had one.
    Code:
    ..C
    @@.
    ..x
That should be the diagram as I understand it.

In that case, the easterling warriors did not move towards you, they were already next to you. What you want there is Zone of Control, which gives you a free attack when a monster that is adjacent to you moves to a spot that is adjacent to you. Polearm mastery attack is when a nonadjacent monster becomes adjacent, Opportunist when a adjacent monster becomes nonadjacent.

The warrior to the right swapped with the wolf. He moved down & right.

The warriors were next to you at the start, which disqualifies you from free polearm attacks. If the wolf was asleep you didn't get an attack on him because the game assumes you don't want to wake him up.

Um... ok, this is getting very frustrating now. I'm not sure what I've said that is so unclear. Other then you possibly aren't actually reading what I'm saying. Please, actually reread. I might just wait for someone else to reply before replying again. Anyways, one last try in case I'm actually not explaining it clearly:

              Turn 1:

              Code:
               @
               @C
               x
              I wait

              Turn 2:
              Code:
               C
              @ @
               x
x is me. The 2 easterling warriors are aware of me. The white wolf is asleep. I have a great spear, polearms mastery, have waited a turn. The left easterling warrior has flanked. The right easterling warrior has swapped with the wolf.

Note: In the top diagram the easterling warrior is NOT next to me (not next to me, not next to me, not next to me).

Sorry if I'm getting very narky, it's just very frustrating when someone replys without actually reading what I'm saying.

It's okay. I'm sorry, I didn't know that what you put up had been turn two. In that case, it appears to be some form of bug, perhaps to do with pushing past monsters to avoid too many free attacks?

Seems like if orc warriors get charge attacks for swapping, players should get mastery/opportunist attacks when they do. Although thats just from a fluff perspective, not a game balance one.

I just tested this in debug mode and yes, there seems to be a bug here. Presumably swapping places with a sleeping monster isn't counting as moving for the polearm mastery code (and perhaps for a few other cases). I'll make a note of it.
