    Sil - heellpp!

    Hi,

I've been trapped by rubble in Sil 1.1.1. Any out-of-the-box way out of this other than eating frugally while waiting for a wall eater to come along?

Unforunately most of the ususal ways involve equipment you don't have. If only you were trapped with the forge, then you could take weaponsmith and craft a digger! How much noise does Elbereth make? I wonder if singing that is your most likely chance of waking/alerting a wall eater. With your low song you are unlikely to scare it away before you know it is nearby and you could stop singing if/when you frequently hear grinding noises just incase?

And with a bit more experience you could take Song of Freedom, but it looks like that's out of reach here.

Thanks for the advice, sadly singing Elbereth didn't attract anything - they all congregated on the opposite side of the level (see attached). I'll never leave home without a digger again!

I'm sorry for your plight, but that is a very funny screenshot! Never seen anything like it.

A sad way to die. Been there, not fun. Since then, a good digger is always on my wish list from start. The ? that breaks walls is also a favourite. Excellent against stone based monsters too. Also, meeting Morgoth without a way to break at least quartz is very dangerous unless you plan to go for a kill.

Wow, cool screenshot, and I am always learning something new. You can clear rubble with song of freedom? That's neat. I knew you could use staves of freedom, but it never occurred to me to try song of freedom, not that I've ever taken it. I should probably re-read the manual again, heh.
              You are on something strange

I wish I could wade into the top-right corner of that screenshot with a herb of rage and song of slaying

Even I'm left wondering what was going on there. I've spent some time with high stealth and the debug mode option that lets you see all monsters all the time and have never observed something like this.

I think we added it in 1.0.1 or something. It was Scatha's idea and a good one.

Have you done it whilst singing Elbereth?
