Bug? Rod of Probing IDs a creeping coins

I saw this with the 4.1.0 release.

I zapped a Rod of probing and it ID'd a creeping coins as a monster. Until I zapped the rod, I hadn't interacted with the coins or realized it was a monster.

After the Probing zap, the description when looking at the coins didn't change; it was still listed as a normal pile of coins rather than a monster. Also, I couldn't target the coins as a monster.

I ultimately had to attack the coins before the game's "treat this as a monster rather than as an item" options began working for the coins.

I would consider that correct behavior.

Whyso? If you learn that something is a monster, you should be able to interact with it as a monster.

Right. Rod of Probing really should ID monsters fully--even doppelganger monsters.

Ah, yeah. I agree. I was thinking the complain was "rod of probing IDs creeping coins".
