The currently unused 'x' key should be bound to 'R*'. This makes a huge difference in early character survivability, since it's quicker to reflexively rest between fights.

I believe "x" is supposed to be "w0" swapping the principal weapon inscribed with @0. Also, if you are concerned with turncount, R* or R& are less useful since you don't necessarily need to rest to full hp/sp. Personally, I set the <Tab> key to "R10<Enter>" and press repeatedly if I need more. The "," key, which is ordinarily set to wait one turn, I reset as "R1<Enter>" thus gaining a little extra from the better hp recovery of resting versus waiting 1 turn.“We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”
