Angband CPU usage

Hey all I've recently installed angband (just using apt-get) in ubuntu.

I launch the game and cpu usage spikes.

I don't know why. I'll just compile it from source but this might be an issue to address

That does not seem to be a video. Did I just get pwned by downloading that and running it with VLC?

Looked like a Flash video to me, viewed fine in the browser.

No idea why the CPU spiked like that. Does it remain high while you're playing the game, or is it only on the title screen?

Ah, ok, thanks. Sometimes I may be a little too paranoid .

Maybe try running the angband executable using "strace" to get an idea of what is going on under the covers? It will dump out a ton of crud, but there might be hints that could what's going on. i.e. "strace angband"
