    Writer needs Coder

    Hello!
    Let me introduce myself first.
    I am a (new) biotechnology student who is fascinated by ASCII graphics.Before roguelikes,I played alot of fantasy games,like the elder scrolls series and the gothic series,but as my age has increased,the interest of gaming altogether has faded.Except,of course,the interest in roguelikes.I have played DCSS,Poschengband,FAAngband,ADOM,and dwarf fortress.Two of them I managed to win.I loved the spell system and the beautiful balance of dungeon crawl,and the endless dungeons of the Angband variants.The seemingly endless monster unique list of poschengband was awesome too.Well,I could go on,but lets stick to the subject matter :-).

    I had reached a point where I wanted to make a new Angband Variant,or a Frankenstein from the codes of Crawl and Angband together.I spent a couple of days learning C++,making good progress,but after some time I realized that no matter how fast I learn it,I can't reach a high enough proficiency level in Coding(In the time span I have) to realize my ideas.I started then to write down my ideas regarding a roguelike,both because as a means to not forget them,and also to show them in a roguelike website,with the hope of catching the attention of a coder who likes my ideas.

    So,that was the introduction and explanation part :-).I hope you take time reading it.I wrote it in a format so as to adress the reader
    Its too big to paste here

    Please make sure you have time to read it,because it takes atleast 20 minutes,for a fast reader.

    If you want to give it a shot,send me an email (abazariakram@gmx.com),or a private message.Have a nice day!

    PS:It would be easier on the eye if you copied it into a txt file and activated word wrap,i forgot to do that @_@.

    PS*:I also did the same thread in the temple of the roguelike forum,so as to increase the chance of somebody seeing this!

    I hate to be a downer, and I wish you the best of luck, but these kinds of posts are practically a cliche in game development forums. The fact of the matter is that anyone who has the skill to implement game ideas developed that skill because they have a million ideas of their own that they want to implement. Why should they choose to work on your ideas instead?

    Anyway, you made the admirable step of starting to learn to code. Don't be discouraged that it's going slowly at the start; it always goes slowly at the start, especially if you're diving into the deep end by examining a finished codebase! But plenty of people have learned to code solely by working on Angband or one of its variants. Keep at it, ask questions, and don't try to put an artificial deadline on your project. This is a hobby, so do it when you can, and good luck!

      +1. Ideas are, in fact, cheap. Execution isn't.

          Hello guys,thanks for the replies.
          @Derakon
          Yes,I see that your point is absolutely valid.Maybe I should think in humbler terms?:3.It's also a good suggestion not to rush things.
          But I still recommend you to read my ideas,my you will like them and implement some in Angband?

          At the time of writing,I am "coding" the monster list.I will just start with the
          things I can do with my limited knowledge of Angband and coding,and leave the rest for later.Even if I shouldn't be proficient enough till then,I am sure that my request would be much more reasonable with hard results.

          I wish you all a nice day :-)

            The only possible reason would be because the ideas are incredibly well thought out and convincing and inspiring. That is why there are Tolkien-inspired roguelikes although he didn't code.

            To OP: If you want others to code the game you want, you should as a matter of courtesy at least provide well developed and structured basics - not a laundry list of game features. This includes (1) game content, (2) ruleset / game mechanics (tons of decisions to make here), (3) world building.

              Your design document doesn't have nearly enough rocket launchers for me to want to work on it.

                Hello again guys.

                Well,after being inspired by derakons post i went ahead and continued my coding efforts and was finally able to compile something.(finding out how to do that was harder than the coding part)long story short,with the basic lessons i learned i started to code it,and the very first,and very,very minor bit of it is finished.altough it is extremely off topic,i thought i would share the result with you(s) . :3.i have decided to code something froms scratch.its more fun than
                to trying to understand those huge pre made code blocks.

                @debo
                they will be there!one of the must have things i have to add(and the story) depends on are different planes and some of them are representations of human ideas and values.I imagine a plane with a unique monster list in style of steambeand is not out of the question(nazi panzers,anyone?)

                http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php...05767564651996 it aught to be 19,5 kilobytes.i uploaded it from a puplic computer,so please check if first with a virus scanner.

                the last part was the most difficult(for me!) to code,because it required a gigantic line full of cout's combined with if's and if else's

                as you can see,i want the character creation to be in the style of adom,but without scumming elements.i added questions i deemed important for the character creation process,but i may add later other ones.also,as you can see,there is not a player race selection.i think it would be best if that is left for the players imagination :-))

                coding is fun,once you get started(and are able to use the effin compiler),and i don't look for direct assistance anymore.

                have a great day,you all!
