    How stable is current nightly?

    Hello.

I'm near finished with my last char and thought about trying these development versions. How "balanced" and stable is it currently? Is it worth getting one? Major bugs to fix? Some major changes that are only partly in yet? Anything we need to know about what is going on in there? Changelist? Reasons why?

Ok, myshkin posted a huge thread recently about all the changes since 3.2.0 - and these are also in the changes.txt file of the dev version. Yes, there are some half-finished things in the current dev version - you'll notice some different messages for monster spells, and you will prefer the old messages. Partly because you always do prefer what went before, and partly because they're a temporary measure before they're moved out to an edit file. You'll notice different prices and randarts, because obj-power has been rewritten - both should be changes you appreciate, but I won't bet on it.

The main issue is that there are some input bugs. IIRC you don't use the roguelike keyset, so you'll miss the worst of them, but you make a lot of use of macros (which are now keymaps - macros have gone), and I think you'll find some glitches there.

This is not intended to be a comprehensive answer - I don't want to dissuade you from trying a dev version, I'm just trying to head off the inevitable tirade of your first impressions ...

Uh, that means I need to rewrite all the different class pref-files. That takes some time.

What "glitches" are there? Inscription changes?

Sorry, I don't know enough about the input layer to describe them properly. But if you look at trac.rephial.org, you'll see all the recent bugs that have been opened.
