    The Ocho Bar

Wild idea just popped into my head.

As another birth-option (particularly for those who live on the wild, IronMan side): code store 8 to be a walled-off-room with a closed, but, unlocked door. A special generate routine would need to be built for it, but in The Ocho Bar, you could have a plethora of townies - Drunks, Mercenaries, Squit-eyed rodues, and veterans hanging around. Every once in a while, due to erradic behavior, I guess, they may exit the Bar on their own.

One could conceivably carry the idea further and store/save item information, so items dropped in the Ocho Bar are held there until one recalls back to town... just, that a townie might pick up your stack of !s of Restore mana, or whatever, and carry them around. (That only matters for normal players, not IronMan types.)

Meh, you can already find townfolk in the town (but I do like the name. I'd have went with Ocho, Ocho, Ocho).

I'd rather see something more along the lines of the Mos Eisley Cantina. "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." You must be cautious. A lot of wildly erratic and OoD stuff in there.

That would require code to permit a vault (of sorts) to be constructed in town, and, require the code to permit players gaining XP in Level 0.

Perhaps that area / bar could be a special area where an exit from the town is to the east/west/north/south of town - a special above ground dungeon level? I mean this digresses into a huge area of discussion: whether to expand the Town &/or start a true forest / mountain trek where one does not travel downwards 50' at a time, but more like 50 yards from the town. The further away one gets from town, the harder the mobs, and one could set a new set of mobs (forest trolls could actually reside in an area where one would think to see them, e.g.) & new uniques for the above ground campaign. Recalling would either send you to the MaxDepth of the dungeon or to the MaxDistance from town (which would make recalling that much more precarious). I'm not familiar with it, but I bet one of the angband off-shoots has already attempted this. For the main branch of the vanilla code, this would be a major re-write of the code.

Oh, I see now. You had an actual idea for the game, and I just had an idea.
