Scroll of restore item - possible ID by use bug

This seems to be specific to retore item scrolls - I thought I had seen this before, but wasn't sure. I picked up one scroll of "vulus talina", fairly shallow. Immediately read it, message "you have nothing to restore". You reorder some items in your pack. I now have one restore item scroll in my pack.

I assume the correct behavior would be to use up the scroll, and possibly not even tell me what it is, since it did nothing. Instead, the scroll isn't used up and I have ID'd it.

So is this a bug, or normal for scrolls? I can't think of any other scrolls that can fail to function like that. I would assume that it would attempt to restore, give you the message, and then be used up.

ID and enchant scrolls work similarly, so I wouldn't call this a bug.

This behavior is analogous to how scrolls of ID work -- if you have nothing to ID, you nevertheless are informed that you have a scroll of ID. As far as I know, the Restore Item scroll is working as intended (in that regard).

Okay, thanks. It seemed odd to me, but I guess that is consistent.
