[V] Gtk port

Anyone here know much about the gtk port? I'm trying to enable it in the Debian build scripts, but I get the following error:

configure: error: The "setgid" option and the GTK port are incompatible.

Can anyone explain why this is the case? The setgid=games is quite important to the way the Debian package works, so I don't want to change it - but I do want to offer Debian users the gtk support if possible. Is this incompatibility fixable?

Gtk+ toolkit will refuse to run with elevated privileges, so it's not easily fixable.
