Thanks Ingwe, I definitely wanted to finish my last attempt (and just did) and what a rush it was. Close to epic struggles with a lot of hallucination, trapped in pits, getting paralyzed and poisoned way beyond what you could survive. And still I persevered and managed to roll over the final tile back home with a shiny sil in hand. Just one although my target was two, but it was the right decision to bail the throne room when I had the chance.

Doesn't this comp have a little over a day left? Thraalbee's @ still shows as alive and moving up the ranks. While I'm not playing the comp, don't want to undercut anyone who is making a last ditch effort.

Ah. I didn't win. Our winner is quite definitely bron, who - amazingly - killed Morgoth twice with a heady combination of Smithing and Archery. I was not at all sure this was possible at 50K, and I think it's a great achievement.

I'd also like to give a shout out to Holy_Rage who managed the other competition ascension with the grim Neldir (see http://angband.oook.cz/forum/showthread.php?t=9020).

I gotta ask: does Revelations show forges in sil-q ? I just gotta asuume the answer is yes, but my (recently deceased) character burned through a dozen Revelations charges on the 700-750 ft levels without finding a single forge. Although I did turn one up with a manual search when I was in-between staffs (staves?). Surely I was just unlucky (?).

And on a totally unrelated note: what's the correct pronunciation of sil-q ? Is it two separate syllables ("sil" "queue") as the spelling would imply, or is it "silk" ?

Revelations definitely still works to find forges, I just ran a quick test with the one on 100', so it sounds like you were pretty unlucky.

I originally intended sil-q, pronounced silk, but Gwarl's initial upload on angband.live was called Sil-Quirk (possibly coming from some confusion between my github name and the repository - the URL is https://github.com/sil-quirk/sil-q). This I think may have had some impact on people capitalising it Sil-Q early on. I gave up on silk shortly after and capitalised it Sil-Q myself, and now even in my own head I think of it as Sil-queue.
