212 should also be Nivim, changing it to score (the level column) should fix it.

I'm embarrassed to be listed as winner - sometimes Pav or Takkaria are able to fix the competition ladder . . .

    He is indeed!

    Sideways is the winner.

I need to go back and announce all the winners.

Well, it happened again... I can't imagine it's a browser issue, Chrome is good for angband.live, yeah?

This comp is ranked by update date... that's a bit lame

Unfortunately I don't know anything about fixing broken savefiles. I've moved the savefile so you can download it at http://angband.live/rangerjeff/211rangerjeff.save and start a new character - otherwise there's not much I can do, sorry.

Okay, so, back to cl 17, much stronger, found an *Enlightenment* shallow for $15k at the shops, got okay AC. But last recall I got stuck in the top left corner of town and couldn't get out. Recalled back to dungeon and recalled back to town and back to where I should be, okay. Restocked recalls and finished my business and back down. Save and exit. Go to reload and I get an error "unable to read inventory"? Any way to save my char?

Okay, next question. My first try of angband.live! Had to change the font as the bottom couple rows were being cut off with default, other than that smooth sailing. But how do I dump to a file that I can upload here? Had a real glass cannon going, running naked but hitting like a bazooka with a long bow of accuracy and branded arrows. Run away from anything tough that resists fire and confusion... And I needed a staff of teleport, phase door is not an escape. And a few potions of speed would have been nice... Nar did me in with a pack of white wolves assisting cl 17 at 850 ft.

Oh, and nice to see all the new blood angband.live is bringing to the competition!

Edit: nevermind, I didn't see any files after my death dump, but playing now I see Wilfred.txt...

Thanks Sideways. Never did find it, but no matter.

A glorious Wilfred run was stopped abruptly when a fire-breathing Dracolisk one shotted him from 350 HP to -2. CL 37/DL51. A very enjoyable ride, I must say.

Thanks for setting up the competition, it's been great to visit places of *band's history!

@ranger jeff The 2.9.3 and 2.9.3r1 savefiles are compatible, but I started playing on 2.9.3 and it seemed a bit buggy - the spell descriptions aren't correct for a start, so I've moved onto 2.9.3r1
Most of the quest entrances are in the wilderness around the town. IIRC, many of the early ones are in the southwest, near the dungeon entrance.

    2.9.3r1 is used on angband.live (Gwarl's site).

@ranger jeff--i never won until Eddie started preaching diving. Then I won in fairly short order, with V3.0.1. That version remains the best balanced in V. I'd still play it, except it has the horrid old ID and UI.

Where can one obtain a copy of Kangband??? And 2.9.3 or 2.9.3r1? MS DOS vs Windows it seems. Ah, 2.9.3. Kicked my ass every time (Vanilla, didn't get my first win til 3.0.6...) I don't know about you guys but it took me 5-10 years to get good at these games, and I'm still nowhere near as good as some. I wander around too much... and that's dangerous though it feels safer, makes you careless. I'm just going to bump into this sleeping d I walked around the corner to find because I'm crushing everything, oops, Kavlax. And I want to kill things, which is downright irrational.
