    Comp 181

Comp 181 is up. Savefile and constants.txt were graciously provided by Nick, so they will probably be sadistic and buggy, not necessarily in that order.

This will be fun. First four chars were obliterated really shortly after descending from town to 100ft. Fifth one survived...

With only 50 small levels to improve the character and collect supplies, this sounds like a good challenge too.

Exactly. I predict no Game Winner, but an adrenaline-filled race for Contest Winner.

BTW, with the reduced view I strongly encourage playing with the Shockbolt tileset...

Really hard comp. Anyone played "Serious Sam"? This feels a bit like the level where monsters spawn on top of a steep slope and keep coming (fast!) in huge waves. Relentless hammering, except here I don't get rockets :-(

Last attempt was fun, found a really rare and precious item at L2 - Kelek's. Not that the Kobold was able to use it, but neither was Fear.

Well, I've kept waiting for the "official" results from Debo, but it looks like we'll just have to have our own "awards ceremony".

Congratulations Power Wyrm on yet another amazing win in a wicked hard competition! ranger jeff on an impressive performance and, patting myself on the back, Ingwe Ingweron for blazing the trail. Everyone who entered had to make a lot of gutsy moves. Great games everyone!

Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

Yeah, PW's a beast, don't know how he does it, but I was more impressed that you got there first and proved it was possible (gave me hope to keep trying!)

After maybe a dozen attempts down into the 40's and bailing on most of them, I feel like this setup is only winnable with luck, so not really a viable way of playing in my opinion. Winning should be possible with good strategy every time you start a game, and shouldn't depend on getting great drops early (and late) as this very restricted and accelerated forced descent did.
