The icky thing touches you, you fall through a trap door, you die.
A dart hits you, you feel slow, the jackal nips at you etc., you die.
Opens door, Wolf in face, you die.
With no phase door in the initial shops (& no !CLW) is there a way to deal with Wolf that early on a 14hp character, with disconnected stairs? I can see confuse monster & bless in the shops which might work but I'm not sure how reliably.
Edit: You know, it's an interesting class when I do get 1 up & running, but at the moment I feel like skipping the comp & trying a half-troll druid levelling it to bark-skin & going from there.
I got my first test character up to cl15 by cheesing hard, but I got really bored by how low max sp is. I think maybe I screwed up on stat allocation, or I'm just spoiled by poscheng casters or something. I like how sp cost per spell goes down as you practice it in poscheng, you can get some really efficient early bolt spells in a hurry that way.

Mini Driver, the skeleton wails "These halls shall claim your life as well!". So ghost from the last NPP comp. How do they work, do they carry the old character's gear?

They are based on dead characters. They ghost abilities are based on the race and class of the character. They carry no gear, but their combat abilities and spells are based on their race and class. The game also tries to make them appear close to the level where they were killed. they do have very good drops when killed.
You get complete monster memory on player ghosts right away. Look it over closely, as sometimes the player ghosts can be deadly for their level.
Hahah oops!!!! I'm not sure if ghosts are in a bones file on your install or she's there because I re-used a savefile, but if it's the latter -- I wouldn't fear her very much!

They aren't stored in the savefile, but rather in the*npp/lib/bones directory on each persons computer. If Minnie driver wasn't there, it would have used the ghost template of one of the Angband/Nppangband maintainers instead.
