    Comp 158

aka the Sil 1.2.1 Speed Symphony Competition, Angelic Demon Bullet Hell Edition.

The goal is to escape with one Silmaril with the lowest turncount possible.

GO FORTH AND BREAK THE GAME

This would be a fun instance where a game clock would be neat: You could have 2 comps at once. Fastest turncount winner and fastest real life time spent. Perhaps the same person would win both at the same time, but I think it would be fun anyway.
    You are on something strange

DCSS does both of these as achievements or whatever in tourneys, and I think the players who get the lowest turncount often take their time doing so

            *SPOILER*
Or buff up to 7-8 STR and lug the crown out of the throne room.

Buffing up to 8 str from 0 might be a bit of a stretch

I have no idea with the comp. I don't do pacifists... heck, I can't even not kill Morgoth. Perhaps I should just play my normal game and hope it's quicker than the singers...

Given your #2 on the ladder, that strategy will probably work.

I think I need to retrain myself to deliberately step in to chasms. I have this automatic habit of trying to avoid them! I'm going to try a stealthy belter - charge & disguise. I doubt I'm in contention for 1st anyway, so may as well just play partially sane.

Make sure you have decent con if you make this a habit, I think chasm fall damage is like 6d4 or something (I also think it's worse than false floors and blasting down -- I guess chasms are spikier or something)

Yeah, I'm playing a Fingolfin. How much will for a staff of slumber + channelling? Around 20?

                        Edit: Shadow cloak at 100'

Not only that, you need sufficient song as well (unlike your throne room char)

I believe this depends on your stealth as well. In the last sil competition I had unbuffed will of 17 + channeling + probably a grace potion, but stealth in mid20s.

By the way, for the uninformed, jumping down a chasm will not kill you, as long as you have greater than 0 con.
