Not a hope - that top spot is just the most outrageous game of Sil that has ever been played. My current run was doing ok at 900' after around 8500-9000 turns - but I never realised before quite how dangerous Thurengwethil could be! Oops. If I'd have read her attack stats before I'd died, I'd have healed or buffed rather than attempting to flank her again...

    - Sprinting
    - Knock Back

and what you thought of them if so. It seems to me that these go very well with such a character.
I did, but momentum came first. Momentum is basically good for everything when you are this strong and can charge.

Sprinting in circles is a leet tech for fighting fast dudes without getting hit, also

Yeah flanking is p.good. I posted every single one of my (3?) attempts, and didn't have much trouble staying alive thru the early game once I learned to run from sword spiders. Of course I didn't dive quite as hard as Psi did, but my "best attempt" was also my fastest diver so...

I like flanking because it gives you more options for escape when you tackle things in open space, and dudes seem to waste a lot of turns moving around rather than attacking you. Charge for this guy was pretty handy provided you took momentum early, or somehow found a bigass weapon. (Even then, a shield seems preferable at 2 con)

Knockback is handy but seems less useful than spending the XP to get more attacks. That could just be me though

I'd be surprised if I had less than 60-70 attempts - most of which lasted two to three minutes. I could have done the route to the leather armour and back for the boots before heading to the stairs even having quaffed a potion of blindness...

Thanks for running this, debo, and congratulations to those who reached the depths or emerged victorious! I had a half-dozen attempts, but I kept falling around the 200-350' mark.

Wall chaaaaaaaaarge! Thanks to debo for bringing this to public attention. And I fell into love with momentum and really enjoyed the experience of clubbing dragons to death. Big fun, although I unfortunately didn't manage to get my attention together after the first two attempts. Admittedly going through scores of failed attempts afterwards when trying to beat psi was much less fun.

Congrats to Psi for taking comp 148! Also kudos to taptap for setting the bar within the first couple of days of the contest!

Now let's never do anything with < 3 Con again...............

(PS - If any of you have any insights or comments on the flanking / charge thing, I'm sure half and Scatha would love to hear them.)

I would bet Feanor's boots that you already have a better score savefile ready to submit in-case-of-emergency.

The sad thing is that this is probably the only contest in the history of time where I could see myself even having a glimpse of a shot at beating you, and I just don't have it in me to deal with 2 Con right now

Automatic flanking on sleeping monsters may have been useful here (although I managed to make enough noise with my chars), but it can be a real pain for light weapon builds that diversify into stealth. (Just imagine they sleep lying on the ground so you can't just hit them when running past them.) And the only point about this request is keeping up speed in the initial attack, isn't it?
I think a simple solution to this would be a toggle mode of "turn on/off autotriggered attacks" -- I've hosed myself in the throne room a few times because ZoC hit someone and broke tension when I was just trying to get into position, for example, and this would also "fix" that case, provided you remembered to turn it on.

You can do it right now by toggling all the flags in the ability menus (or via a macro I guess), but that's a bit of tedium
