Competition 148

Uh...I just started playing the Compo 148 character just now. I guess that's too early. If I start now, can I submit when the Compo officially begins? Or do I have to start all over?

ZoC is usually my next stop after flanking and inner light when building these myself, but I've never gone so heavy on the strength and so light on the constitution before... except for my patented 5/1/1/1 "megabeefcake build". Alas, none of those survived the meatgrinder. My most promising one died at 600' to a single serpent breath

I imagine a good shield and longsword will get you through the early game, but beyond that, it should be interesting.

Interesting comp. Hard to survive early if you bump into sword spiders, too many orcs. I thought of doing this as something of a free hit focused build. Grab Zone of Control (mandatory with flanking) and perhaps pick up some sort of Great Spear and play around with that. Perhaps even some sort of light weapon with Momentum.

Thanks to Nick and pav for getting me up and running on the comp system, and for all the years of truly sadist... uh, I mean fun competitions! I'll be holding down the competition fort while Nick drinks greedily from the firehose of core Angband maintenance.

I'll probably mess this up more than a few times along the way, so please feel free to wantonly abuse me when that happens.

Hey folks,

Competition 148 is now available. It is a Sil 1.1.1 Edain Hador (Túrin Turambar!), who comes pre-equipped with Dodging, Flanking, Charge, amazing Str (4) and truly atrocious Con (2).

Note that Sil is a pretty short game, so we're only allocating a couple of weeks for this contest.

Comp 147 is still available, and will be wrapping up in less than 48 hours!
