    My lvl 33 mage takes 33 turns to dig through rubble

    I find this pretty amusing. I have max INT, max CON and 13 STR. I'm wearing two rings of CON <+13> because I haven't found better rings (although maybe I should replace one CON with a mouse ring I have at home).

    I'd keep the CON rings. Losing 5 CON points would mean too many max HP loss so more monsters could instakill you.

        I might consider a ring of strength. -2 speed is a way bigger risk than a bit of stealth would get. It might even be worth the 130+ HP you would lose.

            Not many turns later my @ is doing even better. A pot of STR somehow brought my STR from 13 to 16. And he now has blindness and confusion protection. Speed will come soon, but even if it doesn't, FastCast should get me by.

                Still haven't found book 4 and am 4 levels away from getting mana storm. Hopefully I'll find annihilation wand(s) soon, or book 4, or more drain lifes. I only have 2 drain lifes, but I do have 2 dragon breaths. Equipment is pretty much the same since last update. I'm playing forced descent so I do have a "clock" of sorts on my game. I'm on DL92. Usually, when I play Angband, I rely on drops to fill out my character when the dungeon doesn't provide. But I can't really do that right now because it's hard for me to kill stuff. I took out wruin with magic missiles, otherwise it's good bolts with a haradrim or explosion/shockwave/icebolts. Occasionally I use my wands but I don't want them to blow up. I did find three rods of speed, though, so that's pretty good.

                I'll do a char update when I reach DL98 or 99 (or find something gooooood).

                I found an underwhelming 10d1 hammer on DL87 with 8 feeling level. It had a lot of stats, 6 tunneling, and slays, but overall pretty useless item for that depth. Usually 8 items on DL87 are insanely good. Maybe I will post a video of me on the level (it was a rectangle maze level). I'm pretty sure no one picked up any objects as everyone was alseep the whole time.

                    That's a good point. Though at 17 lbs overweight it's easy to go for -1 (which is at 15 lbs). I would have dropped that resistance shield and maybe the CLW staff. He also had a flail as swap weapon (i usually don't melee with mages so wouldn't carry such).

                      Well, I didn't reach CL45 so I never got to spam mana storm. Reached the bottom of the dungeon before I did so I had to use Annihilation wands to kill the two bosses. Movement speed was pretty darn clutch in the Morgoth fight. He summoned like a mofo, holy smokes. I forgot to bring my destruction scrolls (I only had a few) so I ended up running all over the level. The level became quite borked after a time from all the mega passwall demons and reavers tunnelling massive swaths through the level. Pretty nuts. Crazy how much I banished and mass banished.



                      I didn't gain enough experience because I was afraid to use my drain life and late acquired annihilation wands--saving them for the bosses. I did finally get book 4 on an 8-8 level on DL97 that had nothing good on it How does DL96 with 8-8 feeling have nothing good on it? The book was dropped....
