RNG is linking this Ranger

So I decided to get back into Angband after a couple years away with a Dunadan Ranger to try out the new more limited spell book assortment.

RNG seems to be shining on this Character
DL 8 I found the Rapier 'Forasgil' which was my main melee weapon for the next 45 Dungeon Levels!
DL13 gave me a a Flail of *Slay Troll* with Telepathy that is still my exploring weapon since I haven't figured out how to get Telepathy otherwise without opening up a major hole in my resists...

Forasgil was finally replaced by the Bastard Sword 'Calris' which my first Remove Curse spell on worked! (and the same drop had the scroll to do so ) and that lasted for a few bounces up and down until I replaced it with the Scythe 'Avavir' Both served me well as I started hunting Ancient Dragons for XP and knocking off Uniques.

But now I just had a weapon drop that I have seen but once before back about 15 years ago. RINGIL! The previous drop was on a puny mage who died soon afterwards to something when it made him overconfident.

I'm scared now what RNG is going to do to me to make up for this.

1. ESP is strictly better than pBlind, and the extra CON makes it even better. Dor-Lomin is an easy swap.
2. Dive. That character is endgame strong except for a bit of speed and a better bow. Both are far more likely below DL 90.
3. You have a lot of useless stuff in your home. Get rid of it and start stocking supplies instead

Once I had some sleep I agreed with you about ESP and swapped that helmet. I cleaned out my home some and swapped a few other things, especially as I started diving via multiple Scrolls of Deep Decent and found a few upgrades. See the updated Ladder entry.

I'm liking the Sustain Everything on my robe for not worrying about weird attacks and since I'm max level i don't worry THAT much about XP drain either.

Now I'm on the hunt for a better bow and consumables like Banishment and Healing potions. Those 2 rods of Healing are new and a great find!

I'm getting a LOT of use out of the Rods of TO to clear out non uniques I don't want to deal with. I am killing off Uniques as I look around to make the boss fights easier. So far most I can kill one at a time with a bunch of arrows (but that Create Arrow spell keeps me stocked) and a few scrolls and TOing any nasty summons.

Lots of tiny vaults with not much in them. Once big vault with an upgrade or two and over a dozen Uniques I just TOed and never fought on that level. To much chance of someone joining a fight in progress.
