So, i found a genuine Ring of Power randart (power 431) on DL6, with massive stat bonused including +[34] AC, with my Human Paladin.
Then i found a x5 crossbow randart on DL15 that carried me for half the game. I had WoG by DL25 (banish evil is veeeery useful).
Zipped down to DL99 with stats capped and a 630dmg vs acid ... and somehow died to Sauron.
I had +40 Spd

I read the messages and could only see a single mana storm. I should have had 800hp and there were no summons so .. what the heck.

What are the deets on the ring of power?

Sounds like Sauron tried to balance out all your early luck with some overaggressive tactics.

I love AC rings. They are super nice.

We did bring up AC a long while back, i recall someone was saying how Gondricam has a noticeable effect, but the we did some math on Morgoth and he dropped somethibg like from 88% to 86%.
But having +34 at such a low CL against such enemies as snagas, yeah there is a very real effect. Also it was a no-gear game so i bought a chainmail, large shield, boots, gloves, helm; i really did notice a big difference in the hit ratio of the mobs.
IIRC the stats on the ring were +3 INT +5 WIS +5 DEX +4 CON +5 Spd rF/C/L/A +34AC.

Also Maggot dropped +4 str gloves. It was a easy game, one of my easiest, only lacked ESP but supplemented with mushrooms for those few dangerous fights.
I had a run in with a death quasit on DL20 !! (Native to DL40)
