Best possible first source of resistance (short of PDSM)

Just reached DL 23, cl 17 with a kobold warrior, essentially without any gear at all (+6 dagger, +5 longbow, enchanted leather armor, etc.)

A source of double Resistance is just huge for a warrior, and at CL 17 it is crazy.

Colluin's a great cloak. Taking 1/9th damage from all basic elements is fantastic, and nothing else gives you that in a single convenient package. Sure, the arcane casters can cast Resistance at will...once they find Resistances, level up enough to get the spell, and get enough INT to cast it reliably. Until then, and for everyone else, Colluin is a firm contender for Best Cloak, against an ESP Cloak of the Magi and maybe Luthien (which I hardly ever find).

Agree ^, Colluin is the best cloak for endgame warriors and ... paladins? Anyone who cannot cast Resistance. It's almost a forced choice if you want to kill Arien, Ancalong, Glaurung (?) and the Tarrasque.
Anything that breathes 1600 fire damage. There's a few of those

The tarrasque pretty much requires immunity, not just double resistance. Otherwise you lose ridiculous amounts of inventory. Mostly I refuse to fight it.

OK, this is a funny game. Upgraded average cloak to Colluin at dl 23. Now i upgraded a +6 dagger to Hurin at dl 26. FA would be really helpful, what with being stuck nearly blind with a wooden torch.

I found artifact boots <+10> on DL29 yesterday and died shortly after to paralysis from a K pit. I force quite and kept playing, though; too many stupid deaths. Still haven't found FA and am now on dl 43. Next time I die it's for keeps.
