    IronMang

It's HT Warrior again. Until I can figure out how to get TomeNET (or, for simplicity's sake, a single player version of TomeNET?) to work, I've rolled up another HT Warrior Ironman game. This time I'll be posting videos of my games.

Things were going great at first, I found a decent whip of slay animal, but it kept discovering curses, one which nearly killed me. Fortunately I found a suitable replacement for it before long. Also found a steelskin cursed helmet which is a great find early on, as rElec who cares given that AC is the most important form of protection for the first 27 levels.

TomeNET is pretty much a multiplayer version of Tome2, so Tome2 is probably the closest thing to a single player version of TomeNET

TomeNET is not a multiplayer version of Tome2, its code is based off MAngband + ZAngband. It's more a mix of the old PernAngband + PernMangband with all refernces to Pern removed.

I tried a hooman fighter. Died a wretched death due to mismanagement of resources. Level 93, IIRC. Getting low on healing potions, and went, "well, I really will need the *Heal* for the big guy in six levels, so hopefully a heal will do it,

              A heal didn't do it.

Big blunder of the game was dropping a ring with iLightning. Figured rLightning, iCold, iFire would do it. Even when I did the drop, had that naggiing feeling "what am I forgetting?"

Ancagalon. That's what i am forgetting.

Question: how many rations of food do you start with? Them-thar trolls like their tucker. Which is to say the first time I tried your HT warrior ironman, Daisy starved to death.

Yeah, I starve a lot in ironman games. I don't mind; I just play again. I love the early game as a HT/Warrior, so I don't always buy food, since I don't care if I starve, but a good amount is at least 3 munchables. Usually what I do is buy what I want and if I have money left over I buy food, but if I don't I take my chances. Part of the problem with buying food is half the time it gets eaten by glutton ghosts.

In a recent game I was on DL100, on my way to fight M. Was fighting Maeglin, easy fight; he was almost dead; he summoned something; I hardly noticed (some dark things, didn't catch my eye) I had 800 or so health. Ancalagon breathed lightning, Huan breathed Shards or sound (which I didn't resist) (both at the same time). 500 + 533 = 200+ more health than I had.

You weren't wrong to drop the iLightning ring. I would have to, as fire and cold are the most important immunities. I assume you had a good ring to use instead.

I gave Ooops 15 rations to start. Seems to be about two per level (!).

If you're clearing levels, you use a lot more food than if you dive. Half-troll warriors have no need to clear levels early on; they're entirely capable of surviving at level 1 at surprisingly deep depths.

Ooops died an unremarkable death early. Got hornswoggled with the old blind/confused/gang muggiing routine.

Lost a promising critter today. Tengu phased @ into a room of quasits and imps. "Oh, that's what the 8 part of 8-3 was all about!" CL 9, IIRC.

Back to half-orc. I like the setup. Paladin this time.

I was about to reply that this here brilliant made up word of yours should be submitted to the OED post haste. But then I decided I best google it first, just to make sure it isn't by some dumb chance an actual real life word. Can't lie, I'm a bit surprised it is in fact a real word!

You going to do a diary for this one?

I is a perfessunnal writer, and I know words goodly.

You going to do a diary for this one?
Nah.... though i did have fun writing up the doomed half-orc, and the nexus vortex allowed me to foreshadow what i would have done had the blighter gained some INT/WIS points.

I might do Perry, the portly perma-pickled priest, but part of doing that is that I'd need to do forced descent with recall available so the poor blighter could restock his alcohol.

Troll warrior would be good, but maybe lack detail.

"I kill seven giant. It fun. Snaga die too fast, not fun. Then hungry, so ate. Not eat giant. They tough, taste bad."

                            Or,

"Killed many things. Counted to twenty. Not going to count more. Get into trouble counting 21. That make many scared." Though that would only work for a male half-troll, natch.

Or stick-figure drawings until a few potions of intelligence. Hard to say. But I could see a troll warrior having grand fun beating the snot out of everything, with little regard for the fact that the whole experience is seriously deadly. (Old time hockey fans might remember Gino Odjick. If you do, then that's how I think a half-troll should live life: beating the crap out of things with a smile on its face.)
