Thanks for the comments Pwrm. 3:20; yeah, pretty bad that I didn't realize haste wore off. 5:00, I didn't want to fight M in a horizontal hallway. But it's true where I moved to wasn't much better.

As far as destructing, if I find one I may use it, but I sorta like the challenge of trying to fight him in unideal terrain (at least when I am uber powerful as I was in this fight).

I usually take one or two risks of death during the M fight if I don't want to bop around a lot; I did resist shards, but yeah, there were a few times I think I could have died during the fight. Sometimes I have bad 'intuition' during fights; sometimes good intuition? maybe? I dunno, hah. I started recording a new Ironman HT Warrior that I will post later this afternoon with standarts since I feel like randart games lately have been a little overpowered.

I come to the queen ant and her brood and nearly kill her and then realize she'd be quite useful summoned during the M fight, so I flee and let her live. I see Fang and avoid him.

      .
I'd like some reflection on this, if you don't mind. You've mentioned this a few times: leaving uniques alive, like Fang (which baffles the crap outta me) and the Queen Ant, for Morgoth.

I am going to *assume* that this is so when the big guy summons uniques, all he get are feebles, am I correct?

My strategy as a newbie to all this has been to bonk as many of the uniques as I possibly can so that there's fewer for the big guy to call on when it gets nasty.

Though I can see the merits of,
"Mere mortal, I shall summon the minion of evil to crush your feeble body!" *foosh*
And in comes Farmer Maggot, Smeagol, the King of Yeeks and a vague overtone of tale sulphur.

        Yes. It's very meta-gamey.

Speaking as a game developer: a reasonably simple way to avoid this nonsense might be to require a minimum total level for all of the "summon unique" summons and just summon High Dragon/Demon instead if it fails the check? (Assuming that one would want to do something about this.)

Yeah, something like that. IIRC awhile back level caps got added to summoning so a Gnome Mage can't pull in an Archlich, but there should probably be a level floor as well.
