They say I'm shaped from stone by a Kabbalist, but how did I get into casting death flavoured spells as a paladin? I wish there were mirrors in the game to actually see my stony malicious self.
Anyhow, the RNG has been mighty generous with me! At level 8, I found a hard leather cap of seeing. As a golem, I already had see invisible, but the blindness resistance is always nice. As soon as I equipped the cap, I realized that it came with telepathy as well! A telepathic golem paladin, oh boy.
A few levels pass and I obtain a shield of reflection along with the phial from a wooden chest. I actually failed at disarming the chest and set off the summoning trap, then had some minor troubles with those minions. Well worth the fight, I must say!
With luck like this it didn't take long to find enough resistances to plow through the dungeon and complete quests with little effort. I even got Werewindle from some random quest, a joyful sword that was chaotic enough to teleport away uniques and polymorph the almost dead dragons to mushrooms. It was only a matter of time until I could go to the old castle and retrieve Slayer (a famous vampiric executioner's sword with great damage and +2 attacks).
For what good? I could hardly use Slayer before I found Ringil shortly after. At the same quest, I got the cloak of Houdini as well! A cloak with telepathy, time to throw away the seeing leather cap. That brings me up to a whopping 240 AC with stone skin! And I've yet to find decent gloves!
Maybe the best surprise was a find on level 31, a better spellbook! I thought it was about time I found black channels, but... when picking it up, I realize it's Necromonicon!! I gain the spell Death Ray and damn it's useful! Killing most dragons and even behemots in just one ray, damage is 200*level or something. Crazy! Just a shame that Necromonicon has to blast my mind now and then for failing
I just cleared the royal crypt, on my way to take on "The rise and fall of Micro$oft" which has a nice artifact creation scroll as reward. I'll most likely enchant a bow of some kind (suggestions please!) and hope for blindness resistance.
Currently level 42 and going strong!
To be continued..
